Update on organ donation guidelines put off
26th December 2016
NICE has decided not to update its 2011 guidance on organ donation for transplants.
The organisation, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, has announced it will not be updating its guideline (CG136) which covers improving the identification of donors and consent rates for deceased organ donation.

It will review the situation again in 2018.
A spokesman said that it had reached the decision after considering new evidence on the issue and consulting with experts and stakeholders.
NICE said it had considered the impact of 38 new studies through surveillance of the current guidelines and they supported current recommendations.
